Our Mission

Our Mission is to provide rural Kenyans with a source of income generation, a marketable skill, and basic business principles, while producing an inexpensive, reliable bar of soap for hand-washing, in order to promote good hygiene practices in the rural communities of Nyanza Province, Kenya.

A beginning!

Furaha Soap was started in July, 2010, and currently employs 8 individuals from Lwala, Kenya, and surrounding communities. Furaha Soap is made from natural, locally available resources in Kenya and has all the same cleansing properties, fragrance, and skin benefits of a typical bar of soap. We are proud to say that 100% of profit made from soap sells goes directly to Kenya; to support the soap makers. Extra profit will go to expanding the business and supporting water, sanitation, and hygiene projects in Lwala and surrounding communities.

Pictured below is a batch of rosemary soap made from locally grown rosemary essential oil and leaves, naturally occurring limestone and sodium bi-carbonate from hot springs near Lake Victoria, animal fat from a local butcher, and vegetable oil.
